COUNCIL MEETING SUMMARY

Approval  To proceed with the initiation of engineering design and well drilling at Jonnie Drive for a new well; maintain Well #10 as an irrigation well; and approval for well #13 to be capacity tested and possibly upgraded to be a secondary irrigation source for Keiller Park.

Approval  To accept the recommendation of the Citizens committee and City staff, to build a new police facility and the current location.  Staff will proceed with design concepts related to that particular location.

Approval  Resolution 2003-34, calling for a special bond election to be held on March 9, 2004 for water system improvements, and municipal improvements.

Discussion Of the revised street plan and projected time line.  This is in regards to the street summit held on November 6, 2003 and Council work session held on November 24, 2003.

Approval  To close Railroad Avenue from Maley Street to Haskell Avenue on December 20, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.  Also, Railroad Avenue between Maley Street and Stewart Street until 8:00 pm the same evening, for the purpose of the Christmas lighted parade.

Approval  Resolution 2003-35, renaming Granada Street North and Granada Street South to Granada Street.  This resolution removes the directional designators for both streets.

Approval  Of the end of the year employee compensation benefit.  Each full time employee to receive $300, and part time employees will receive a pro-rated amount in keeping with their regularly scheduled hours.  The total outlay will not exceed $18,000.00.

Approval  Resolution 2003-36, regarding adopting the job description of Wastewater Quality Field Supervisor into the job description manual for the City of Willcox.

Discussion  Regarding an automated meter reading system.  Staff is instructed to research the products available, and return to Council with plans and costs.

Discussion  Of the report given by Finance Director Jeff Palmer regarding the status of the City's budget.

2. Business permit notification and update.  The business permit ordinance takes effect January 1, 2004.
3. Holiday schedule - December 24th and 31st, half day.  December 25th and January 1st closed.
4. Mayor/Manager's luncheon - Fort Huachuca on December 16, 2003.
